The day FINALLY came!!! Luckily we had a San Diego trip to distract the kids for a week but all they've asked is, "WHEN ARE MORGAN AND JOSH COMING?!?!? HOW MANY MORE SLEEPS TIL THEY GET HERE?!?!" Well the day finally came and it was extra special for Luca because it's also the day we celebrated his summer birthday at Pre-K! He took
4th of July Captain America cookies :-) Yum!
We got the text that they were on their way and we started counting the hours...
Before we picked them up, we went to the Locks to have a picnic and say goodbye to our dear Stockton clan. They are taking Abe the babe and moving back to Denver to be closer to family. I can't say I blame them but oh how we will miss them!!!
This pretty much sums up our feelings...
(Luca leaving the locks)
Morgan and Josh arrived Wednesday evening and we began the great Seattle extravaganza! Ella was so excited to hang with Morgan. She planned tea parties and make over parties and movie nights and all kinds of stuff ;) Luca was excited to have a sleepover with Josh :) On the first night, he gave Josh his beloved Moosie and said Josh needs Moosie because Moosie is ginormous and Josh is ginormous and he would just take teddy because they are both tiny. I mean, come on...can't handle all the adorableness.
On our first day, we took them to the Public Market and the Big Wheel. It was a b.e.a.utiful day...
The big kids were at school this day so we were able to cover a lot of ground!
Later in the day, we took the kids to Carkeek park to let loose...
The next day we had a picnic at Ballard Locks and watched the boats. First we paused Market street and stopped by the Pie Bar to get some sweet treats to top off our picnic.
Steep hill + belly + jelly shoes = disaster
Before heading home, we went down to the fisherman's terminal so walk out and see all the boats. I suggested we eat at Chinooks and dine with a view but Josh and Morgan don't like fish!!! They'll never know what they were missing :) Every part of us wanted to jump in a boat and pretend we were setting sail, but we refrained...must set a good example for the kids haha.
That night we took them to dinner at Metropolitan Grill downtown. We got a sitter so we could all actually sit and dine! We talked, laughed and ate A LOT.
The next day we took them to explore some more in our neighborhood on Ballard Ave. We shopped around and ate our favorite burgers at Lil Woodys.
Oh HEY handsome!!!
Don't you think Ella + Olli NEED these dresses??? I do :)
That evening Josh and Morgan took off to a Sounders game while I entered back into my real world for a couple hours and caught up on some laundry. The next day, Sunday, Josh woke up SICK!!! He slept the day away while the rest of us when to church. Luca had been sick the day before so Morgan and I decided this would be the perfect girls day. This was the day Ella had been waiting for :-) The boys hung out at home and the girls went shopping at U Village. Ella bought her first chapter book, A Little Princess, and we marked our girls day as a memento in the book :)
Girlfriend says that these are her style hahaha.
Monday was the Space Needle! My kids have been asking to visit the needle since we moved and this was the perfect opportunity! It was Memorial Day and Ella was out of school so we all packed up and made a day of it. There was a festival downtown too so there was a lot to do and and see!
I guess technically Milo has been before, twice. He was just in my belly :) The view is much better from the outside though!
playing with the interactive photo wall...
We were trying out the new sky-high selfie feature out on the deck and this one is definitely going in the books. Home-slice is unknowingly all up in our shot and I'm clearly annoyed. Say cheese! And then there's Mike, blissfully unaware :)
Then we were so off on our timing that it never really worked out...this is what we got hahaha.
Spidey!!! This guy was more excited to see Spiderman than we was to see or do anything else!
Boo face was plum tuckered out by the time we were ready to leave :(
On our last day, Josh and Morgan got out and about in the morning while I let Milo sleep and Mike got some work in. Ella was at school, but that afternoon, we headed out to Golden Gardens...
And watching this boy on the beach is one of my greatest joys. It's like an animal being returned to the wild...he has wide open space and freedom to be as wild and free as he is truly is on the inside and he just lets loose in his own little world. You can see his mind spinning. It's pretty magical.
Fun was had and memories were made! It was like another vacation of us too! We love having our family here with us...it helps make our home feel more like home. I'm pretty sure we wore them out :)
