gettin my craft on...

A friend of mine is getting married in December, and she found these adorable signs on etsy! But why order on etsy when you have a crafty friend dying for some projects to work on? (believe it or not all my crafty projects are complete at the moment) So, it was my pleasure to craft these signs she will use at her wedding. The front says Thank You and you can use them in pics for cards. The back is Mr. and Mrs. that she can use at her reception or for wedding pics.

My passion for creativity, crafting, and designing things, started waaaaaay back in the day! It really has been a life long hobby of mine. So I'm going to take you back to 1995! I was in the 5th grade and apparently I had a passion for fashion design ;-) My mom was cleaning out closets while being trapped in all the snow, and so when she came to visit us this weekend, she brought along many of my "lovely" creations (and by lovely I mean made with love) hand made by none other than.............wait for it................wait for it...........ME! In my defense, these are hysterical today, but back in 1995, vests, shortalls, and floral patterns were all the rage! I'm just sayin! My friend Cassie and I took a sewing class so we could make our own clothes...luckily, my taste has evolved through the years! So here we go...

I had Mike model my vest...one size fits all haha! I'm sure I meant to do that ;) I guess I was planning on growing into it for years and years to come. If floral vests EVER come back in style, I'll be set! haha
I also made my own swim suit cover up in a vibrant fish fabric...you know you want one!
And this is one of my favorites...shorts with a matching vest in a lovely ballerina bear fabric. Totally tasteful don't you think?
Oh, yeah...and these were my short-alls! And it was only cool to hook one strap at a time :) I'm sure I sported these with some keds.
And last but not least, my friend Cassie and I painted coordinating Christmas outfits. I know what you're thinking...YES, I was/am a major Madonna fan...but NO she was not a factor in my choice of location to place the swirls. I obviously didn't have any womanly parts at that time and didn't think through this ;) I'm holding on to this one for a tacky Christmas sweater party I hope to host this next holiday season!
Pretty handy on the sewing maching for a kid don't ya think?!?! I can and still do make clothes for my babies, but don't worry, they don't look anything like these!

ella's first dentist appointment!

Ella had her first dentist appointment! She was so excited that she talked about it all week and cried every morning when we told her she had to wait a few more days. We fully expected the big girl demeanor and excitement to turn into drama, terror, and tears when we actually went. But I am happy to tell you that mommy and daddy were WRONG! She got right up in her chair and after a little thumb sucking comfort (we forgot to tell her that dentists frown upon that) she was ready to go! She even sang to her hygienist...yep you heard me right. They said it was the first time that they had been serenaded by a patient...especially a tiny one :) I think it was twinkle twinkle little star and some Usher that won them over. By the end of the appointment she had them pulling out all the stickers and toothbrushes a girl could want AND had the dentist himself making multiple rubber glove balloons with specific artistic requests to be drawn on them...so of course they had to hunt down a sharpie and go through a fair amount of rubber gloves to appease this girl. She acted just as any princess would. Gotta love this girl :)

baby love at 6 months

L- littlest lovely
U- unbelievably snugly
C- cute as a button
A- all about mommy

This is how I would sum you up at your HALF BIRTHDAY! 6 months goes by so fast, but I have made sure to soak in every-single-moment...even our multiple midnight meetings and feedings :) We are delighted that God blessed us with a baby boy. We've known all about how special it is to love a little girl and now we know how special a love for a baby boy is. Boy, I could go on and on about you! I mean...those eyes, those lips, that hair...now tell me that's not just precious!

Here are the 6 month highlights:
-You give kisses on demand now! And I do demand a lot of them :)
-Your hair is adorably out of control
- You're a little squeaky when you're upset...kinda sounds like a kitty cat haha
-YOU ARE SLEEPING IN YOUR CRIB! Every night! For real! This was a big deal for you and I...but more so me :0)
-You recently just had RSV...BOO! Very scary.
-Your favorite past time is playing with your toes.
-You are not a big fan of baby food, which is super shocking judging by your big boy physique! You now get ticked if I even set you in the bumbo or highchair to suggest that baby food is on it's way.
-You are down to ONE nighttime feeding. Last night you slept from 7-12 and then from 12-8 with only one feeding!
-You can almost sit up and can scoot backwards on your belly.
-You love the jumparoo and can almost launch yourself out of it!

Also, you have officially won the heart of our resident princess. She doesn't much like it when you touch her "boodiful hair", but other than that you guys have really started to love on one another and have fun together. You think she's pretty cool and she is pretty proud of you. You are going to make a great team, we can already tell!

We just had our 6 month photo shoot! Pics on the way so be on the lookout!

snow days

Our expected "dusting" of snow ended up to be 6 inches of fluffy white bliss! 4 days off of school, snuggling all cozy inside with the family, playing with friends, and just enjoying winter.
ella and kate getting ready to go play outside in their homemade sleds! Mike looks like a reindeer in training to pull santa's sleigh...
and he dumps our precious cargo! Woops! Ok, not ready for Santa just quite yet...
My sweet snow bunnies...
This was Luca's first snow! It was very very cold so we went outside to explore for a minute and then took the babies back inside. I kept him in my arms the whole time thinking I wouldn't be a target for snowballs if I had a baby in my arms...I was wrong!

Ok Mommy, this is fun and and all...and by fun I mean cold and wet...so take me inside and get all cozy with me please! I love his pout, aka, the luca lip :(
I have a feeling next year will be a different story with this boy in the snow :)

Rubber Ducky, you're the one...

I used to sing this to Ella in the tub and it went a little something like this.
Ella Avery, you're the one.
You make bath time lots of fun!
Ella Avery I'm awfully fond of you...
boo boo bi do :)
Rub a dub dub baby Ella's in the tub! (ella at 5 months)
And now I also sing...

Luca Baby, you're the one.
You make bath time lots of fun!
Luca Baby I'm awfully fond of you...
boo boo bi do :)
rub a dub dub baby Luca's in the tub! (luca at 5 months)
I thought this would be a funny comparison. They look so much alike in these pictures! Although, I do have to say, my little Ella was a little more "rolly" at this age.

LoVe

I love that my boy is pretty :) I know I'm supposed to say he's "handsome", but lets face it...he's a pretty boy!
love the eyelashes...
I love waking up to these sweet faces...
I love my bright eyed and bushy tailed little dude...
I love that Ella has a cousin that is her age to grow up with...just like I did!
love her pizazz...
love this dynamic duo...
love Saturday mornings...
love the pout...

February is the month of love and I have so many things to love and be thankful for! And you are one of them!
