Our Song

This is our new family song. It is about a big sister anticipating and waiting for her new baby brother and thinking about the life they'll have together. It brings tears to my eyes! I first heard it when our photographer played it during his newborn picture shoot. It brings back sweet memories of those first days at home as a new family of four. Before you push play, scroll to the bottom of the blog to turn of the blog music. I've also written the lyrics below. I love my babies! This song warms my heart...

Last night while everyone was asleep, I looked out my window up through the trees. The sky was so big and covered in stars, I knew my baby brother would soon be ours. Hey, how are family of three, is growing beyond my Mommy, Daddy and me. Hey, how, just how will it be? When we add another branch to our family tree.

I’ll be the protector so strong and wise. I’ll be the cheerleader always by his side. This cute little baby, we’ll soon enough see. No one could love him any more or better than me. Hey, how are family of three, is growing beyond my Mommy, Daddy and me. Hey, how, just how will it be? When we add another branch to our family tree.

I’ll show him the things I’ve learned along the way. I’ll help him blow out the candles on his first birthday. We’ll grow up together, side by side; take care of one another full of love full of pride. Hey, how are family of three, is growing beyond my Mommy, Daddy and me. Hey, how, just how will it be? When we add another branch to our family tree.

I love you Ella and Luca! You are my world and I can't wait to see you guys grow up together :)

The Ellapalooza!!!

Here are the pictures from Ella's third birthday! I had so many pictures of the Ellapalooza that I decided to make a slideshow instead of posting all individual pics. Before pushing play, scroll down to the bottom of the blog to turn of my blog music so you can hear the video. Also after you push play, if you click on the arrows in the bottom right corner, it will show up bigger, but a little blurry.
She was soooo excited about her big day. It was so fun because it was the first time she knew what a birthday was and that it was HER birthday! It was such a special day for her and I hope she carried away a few memories that will last! I can still remember a few things about my third birthday...I remember the clown for sure because I was terrified by him :) I also remember the fun balloons! I love to go all out for birthday parties. Mike thinks I go a little wild, but it is a sentimental day to me and I like to honor it with the best parties I can possibly come up with at the time! That's how I role. I love to plan and party...hence the party planning ;) Even the 1st and 2nd birthday that I know she won't even remember. It is a day for me to celebrate my favorite little people and the day we brought them into this world.

Ella My Love

Ella my love,
Your are 3! How can you be 3?
I vividly remember the moment you were born and the first time I saw your face. They held you up for me to see you and that perfect picture of my unexpectedly blond bald beautiful baby is a moment in time I will always carry with me. It also makes me wonder when you grew up, where all the time has gone, and what the next 3 years will bring…well, the next 3 years will bring kindergarten and I’m not even ready to go there so we’ll just talk about being 3 today :)
So you are THREE years old…I love my girls…
big blue eyes
bright beam when you smile!
Your pig tails
and your twirl...
I also love that you have your own sense of style (yes you care so much about fashion at the age of 3…it started at 2)

And although it can be quite a challenge for mommy and daddy, I do love your attitude, high spirit, sass, and class. You have quite the attitude and love to be in charge and in control. Many people ask me where she could possibly get that from and I just can’t figure it out!!! ;) I think you’d be a perfect mommy and teacher someday…sound familiar? You’ve got a plan for everything, are organized, and can lead the pack. No one can mess with you…you have words beyond your years and know how to use them.

You are such a high spirited little girl. You are active, happy, joyful, innocent, pure, and you LOVE life…just as every little girl should. You even get excited about mac and cheese for dinner (which happens a lot these days). Everything is your “favorite”. You’ve got enough personality, attitude, for a group of 13 year old girls and that’s a little scary. You are incredibly smart which means your mommy and daddy have to get super creative sometimes. Your daddy and I are already having to read up and think about how to filter your strong will, your smartness, and complex (but amazing) personality for good things in life. They will take you far!
So needless to say, you’ve got some sass about you, but you’ve also got a lot of class. You are a lady. You must (at all times) have a cute outfit on (mostly princess dresses) with matching shoes and you rarely leave the house without your jewelry. You twirl in circles, love to slow dance with your daddy, and are very particular about your hair do :)
You are a dear friend to all of your tiny people.
You are so caring, protective (especially of Luca), and comforting. You seem to have a strong sense of justice for a 3 year old…according to you, people must simply be nice and do the right thing all the time! And if they don’t…they better watch out for Ella!!! Oh Ella my love, we have so much to teach you and so much to learn from you. Please grow up a little slower. We love you sweet girl and want to wish to you just as you would say it... “happy booday” baby.
a few more of my favorites of baby ella...

happy TWO months luca baby!!!

Luca, you are 2 months old old now! Our lives are 2 months sweeter and 2 months sleepier since your speedy arrival into this world. You came into this world full force in a short 2 1/2 hours and you have continued full speed ahead every since then. Daddy calls you his Italian Stallion. You are also called "luca baby", "little dude" and "tiny guy" because you are anything but tiny :) In fact, you are a whopping 13 lbs 5 oz!

-love to eat. You refuse to fall below the 95th percentile so you eat LOTS to keep up that perfectly plump figure of yours :)
-smile the sweetest smile. You are working on a laugh and have gotten out a few cackles for us!
-are soooo alert! Just like your sister, you are not a sleepy baby. You like to party :)
-are a MAMA'S BOY...of course! All you need is food and I've got what you want. You are furious ball of fussiness if you have to take more than one bottle in a row.
-twitch your nose and it is oh so cute. You do this when you get a little excited and/or are wanting to eat. It makes you look a little mischievous ;)
-love to take baths with your mama. I got in the bath with you one night when you weren't feeling good...and now you're hooked. You seem to think it should be a nightly routine, but I don't mind :)
-have been sick with: allergies, cold, eye infection, ear infection, constipation and diarrhea, acid reflux. But don't worry, we are not shaken...after your sickly big sister, this has become the norm.
-can't seem to get on a good sleeping schedule but I can't say I blame you! If you're not all stuffy, something else like your ears or tummy are hurting :(

Under the Weather

Well, with the beautiful fall weather also came the seasonal colds, viruses, allergies, and infections. We've all been a little sickly here at the Reading Roost...Mike with a stomach bug, me with some sort of yucky virus/sinus infection, Ella with a fever, cold, and allergies, and now Luca with a little fever and a 3rd round of congestion (while on his antibiotic for his ear infection). Pretty typical for our family...but we are working hard to shake it before Ella's big day next weekend! In spite of being a little under the weather, we have still managed to have some fun!

Last week we took our first family part outing. Luca enjoyed the sunshine and Ella enjoyed having us all there together.

He is one happy boy!

Ella use to make a face identical to this! Looks like a little baby duck ;)
My beautiful girl!!!
Last night we took Ella bowling for the first time!
She was so cute in her little velcro bowling shoes :)
She was all into it until...
the lights went out!
Then my little party animal forgot all about was time to DANCE!!! She danced the night away. Ballerina style, gangster style, hip-hop, and maybe a little ballroom in there too. I do have to admit...the girl can move!

And this was what Luca did :)
