The Good Life

Today was one of those days that you all of the sudden remember how good life is! It all started this morning as I was driving Ella to Nit's and signing in the front seat as loud as I could to Alica Keys. I wander sometimes what Ella thinks back there and today I may have figured it out! I heard little giggles so I looked back and she was dancing with me...so I sang louder and danced along with her and we had a great time on the way to school this morning. I look forward to the days where we both have our sunglasses on, windows down, and rocking out in the car together (probably to Yo Gabba Gabba tunes) :0)

It was a great day at work. When we got home, we went to go eat at Anamias...yum yum. Then, when we got home, we noticed some kids up on our front porch. Apparently scarred from apartment life, I ran from the garage through the house ready to let them have it!! I opened the door to ask if I could help them, and they had simply come over to welcome us to the neighborhood :0) Ok, yes, I felt about 2 inches tall. They also had noticed that we had a baby and wanted to know when she would be old enough to come play. So sweet! And then another neighbor brought us dinner.
Ella got to play in her back yard for the first time and then we went inside and cozied up by the fire. Ella got back up after going to bed WIRED (thank goodness we're on the last day of antibiotics) but it turned out to be what will be one of my favorite future memories. As we were watching American Idol, Ella kept doing the Brobee dance (notice the sweat shirt) and when it was over, we turned on some classic 80s music and it turned into an all out dance party in the Reading house...Daddy included! I so love that she thinks we are so cool like that and dread the day when she is totally embarrased or annoyed by it...she'll figure out that will only make us dance harder and sing louder :0)

Good times!

Ice Ice Baby

This is Ella in her foofa shirt :) She loves Yo Gabba Gabba so much that I broke down and bought cartoon clothes! When I got her dressed, she just pet foofa on her shirt and smiled like, "I look so pretty today!"
Well I ice skated to the street today to take this picture of the outside of our house! We are at home today and school has been canceled. To most, ice is no good, but to a teacher, it is the best thing when you are needing a relaxing day at the house. We are just staying warm inside and enjoying our day off together! The only rule for the day is PJ's only :)

Home Sweet Home

Well, I haven't been my usual blogging self lately because we have been transitioning! We are all moved in and settled in our house and feeling on top of the world. Thanks to some great friends and a fabulous mom, we were able to get it all moved in, organized, unpacked and decorated in 3 days. We are so use to being in close quarters that Ella cries when she can't see us and we all sit on the same couch together! There are a few bare spots that need a little decor but it is not bad at all...I didn't realized how much stuff we had.
Here is our ginormous living room...

This is the wet bar which serves as a makeshift hutch for all of my fun dishes and holiday dishes...
office (still needs a chair and some wall decor but the fabulous rug was a housewarming gift from my mom)...
Kitchen area (the door is to the garage)...

Ella's nursery...

hallway...

Master bedroom...
master bathroom ( i love the arch above the shower)...
and I saved the best for last...LOOK AT MY CLOSET!!
We have another bedroom and another bathroom that is yet to be complete but I will post pictures later when they are done! Also, we have a lovely backyard but it is dark so I'll take some more outside pictures and will share those later. I'll also be posting some Ella pics too b/c it has been a while! She has been a piece of work lately and that is no lie. Pouty purple (Ella fits) comes around quite often now a days. Just a little higher maintenance than normal. I think we are about to settle back into life so I hope that will help :)

We're Moving!!

Yep that's right! It is a little sooner than we expected, but a blessing came about and we came across a really great situation that fit our needs and just happened to work out! Our apartment was the first place that felt like home after leaving home to move to Texas, and it is the place that we brought our first baby home to so needless to say, no matter how squished we are, it is a little sad leaving. We are not ready to buy a house and won't be until Mike graduates from seminary so we leased a house! We figured this will be a great way to "ease" us into all of the homeowner responsibilities. Our house is in Coppell which is a GREAT area. It is a suburb and has a smaller town community feel. Here are the things I am most excited about...
Friends; If I'm still working when Ella goes to kindergarten, her neighborhood friends will also be her school friends which wouldn't happen if we were commuting; And if I'm not still working when Ella goes to school, she will still get to go to Coppell schools which are INCREDIBLE if I do say so myself!!; No 20 minute commutes on an interstate for simple play dates!
1800 SQUARE FEET!!!!; I drive 3 minutes to school which means more sleep in the morning and getting home sooner :) I drive a total of 3 hours to and from school on the weekdays :(;
A backyard for Ella and a park and a duck pond down the street; A community feel where everyone knows everyone's business and you can't go to the grocery store without seeing someone you know as opposed to a big city feel. I've come to appreciate all of the small town stuff; Saving a great amount of money on toll tags and storage units; Still being easily accessible to all of the fun shops and food.
Anyway, the list goes on...we have wonderful people that we know and trust that own the house. They have a super smart 2nd grader (that just happened to be in my class for a while last year) haha! There is an extra room for guests and for another baby eventually. So we have one more week in our apartment and then we are on to our next adventure and ready to make more memories!

Ella's Favorite Game

This is Ella's new favorite game! She plays it all of the time, even when people don't play back. She loves to make people laugh...

So this is Christmas...

This was our 2nd Christmas with our Ella Bella and she was soooo much fun. Last year was so special because it was her first Christmas and this year was just plain fun watching her taking it all in. The fun and games began on Christmas Sunday. We left from Church and drove to Arkansas for my family Christmas...
After that, we drove to Van Buren and stayed a while for Mike's family Christmas. This was Christmas Eve night. My favorite part of the night was having old scratchy Christmas records playing while these little bitties danced around the room :)
Check out these wild women on their power wheels. They were cruisin for the rest of the night...
On Christmas morning, we drove to my Mom and Dads house for MORE PRESENTS!! Whew! Then we stayed a while at their house before our next trip...

Nana and Ella did a little cooking for us :0)
Then we drove to Springfield, MO to visit Mike's Grandmama and Aunt Sharon which are Ella's Greats! This was Ella's first visit to Grandmama's house and we all were so excited to bring her their for the first time. We played a lot of cards and continued to binge endlessly on food!!!

Then, we started to make our way back home. We stopped and stayed at Mimi and Pops to sleep and break up the trip. Ella was a trooper with all of the traveling. We are excited to be at home to relax. We stayed home last night to just chill. It was very calm and peaceful and it was the perfect way to bring in the new year. 2008 was such a great year and the we are excited to see what 2009 brings for our family, for Ella, and for life! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
